Preparing for influenza season

Each year the United States has a Flu season where more people than usual suffer from the Flu. Vulnerable populations can develop serious complications and end up in the hospital. Hospitals and clinics need additional staff to adequately treat these extra patients. The medical staffing agency provides this temporary staff

Objective: To help a medical staffing agency determine when to send staff and how many to each state for the upcoming flu season

  • Some states are more impacted than others - California, New York, Texas, Florida & Pennsylvania are the most severe

RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Send additional staff to the high-need states during flu season

    • California, New York, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania

    • Send in October and monitor hospitalizations/flu death

    • Monitor and evaluate next-tier states as needed
